About

My name is Richard Hernon.  I live in Boise, Idaho and I am married with no children (with no plans for any).  My wife and I both work full time.  My wife works at a local hospital and I work for one of the local city governments.  I am not a politician, however, and I have no connections to any type of financial bureaucracy.

My work schedule is Tuesday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 2:00 am, four 10-hour shifts a week.  This makes trading on Monday and Tuesday pretty easy.  Wednesdays are tougher, and Thursdays and Fridays are pretty much impossible.  I’ve tried it in the past and I get way too tired at work to concentrate.  So, I rarely trade towards the end of the week unless something comes up after noon time.  I don’t like holding stocks over night later in the week as I can not get up with the market the next day to watch the stock.

I am fairly new to trading and have been studying and following various penny stockers over the last year and a half.  I decided to start this blog to document my trades in public and give credit to those that I have learned from.  You can see my blog roll on my main page to see who I am referring to and who I am following and reading on a daily basis for my trades.  Also, if you read my experiences in later blogs I name and link many of those that I study and watch.

I graduated high school, served 5 1/2 years in the Army as a helicopter mechanic, got out in 1990 and finished college.  I bounced around different jobs including being a courier for King County Government in Seattle, working as a manager for a now out-of-business theater company and catching shoplifters for PayLess Drug Stores.  I did most of that while attending school full-time before entering my current professional field in 1998.  I also met my wife in 1998.  She moved her to Boise (her hometown)  in July of 2000 and I followed in March of 2001 and we were married in July of 2003 at homeplate in Safeco Field.

I’m a pretty private person so don’t expect me to share too much of my personal life in this blog.  This isn’t about me, its about my trading and my learning curve in the world of trading.

Hey Richard. I’d classify myself as a value investor, but I’ve only been investing for a little over a year, and I’m curious about the other end of the investing spectrum too. I know about the drawbacks of day-trading, but some people seem to be really good at it so there must be a way to do it right. I hope you find a good strategy and do well with it. I’ll check back on your blog from time to time, learning vicariously through your experiences haha… good luck.
